The roots of Canyon
Landscaping began in the spring of 1999 with the birth of a company named
Yards, Chores, & More. B.J. Smith and Russ Guymon specialized in small
landscape and maintenance projects that other companies would not do. The
slogan of “Let us do the job that you don’t want to” became
a hot ticket and the students had all the work they could handle while juggling
the demands of Utah State University.
In 2001 B.J. assumed sole responsibility of the young company with the goal to turn Landscaping into a career, rather than a student side job. After graduating from Utah State University in 2002, he changed the name to Canyon Landscaping and became licensed and insured through the State of Utah as a landscape contractor. B.J. kept his focus on doing tough and small landscaping jobs that others did not want to tackle. The company also diversified itself by offering more landscape services than in the past. In 2003 another year of growth and success found Canyon Landscaping. The company again increased its products and services which were provided to now include the necessities of landscaping to the luxuries of landscaping that can be found in a backyard. Canyon Landscaping offers work in the landscape from beginning to end. Grading, boulder walls, hard-scape (pavers, concrete, and flagstone), sprinklers, curbing, sod, planting, ponds, lighting, and artificial putting greens are all services provided with the customer’s best interest in mind. Also in 2003, hanging custom Christmas lights, which has been a stapled product since the beginning, grew to Salt Lake and Ogden while still completing 65 jobs in Cache Valley. Canyon Landscaping is the only Christmas lighting company in Cache Valley that has more than three years of experience and they actually have been providing custom holiday lighting for six years. In 2004 Canyon Landscaping employs
on average, fifteen full-time employees, mostly students at Utah State
University, from March through December. The goal of B.J and his employees
still remains to build a loyal customer base through great service and
a superior product. |
